Fruit Stripe Gum discontinued after more than 50 years
Fruit Stripe Gum, an iconic candy for many, is set to be discontinued by its manufacturer, Ferrara Candy Co. The gum, known for its spectral-striped sticks each with a distinct fruit flavor, has been a staple for gum chewers for over five decades. The gum was first launched by Beech-Nut in 1969 and later produced by Ferrara, a unit of Italian conglomerate Ferrero. The product’s discontinuation was confirmed in statements to Food & Wine and CNN. The gum was also famed for its zebra mascot Yipes and temporary tattoos in its packs, which reportedly lasted longer than the gum’s flavor.
