Former Lina Hidalgo staffer under indictment in Harris County seeks to void new explore warrants – Houston Public Media

Attorneys for Alex Triantaphyllis, former chief of staff for Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo, have asked a judge to void new search warrants in a case accusing him of steering a government contract to a preferred vendor. Triantaphyllis, alongside two other former Hidalgo staffers, was indicted in April 2022 on charges of misuse of official information and tampering with a governmental record. The attorneys argue that the warrants, which compel AT&T and WhatsApp to provide communications from the former staff’s personal cell phones, are overly broad and improperly obtained. Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg dismissed the motion, while Hidalgo continues to argue that the investigation is a political vendetta.
