Flurries end, cold wind, severe storms, then arctic blast

The weather forecast for Alabama predicts cold mornings with temperatures in the lower 20s and 30s, light snow and sleet ending overnight in northeastern Alabama, and no widespread travel issues due to weather. Another significant weather event is expected on Friday, which could bring high wind gusts, heavy rainfall, and a substantial threat of severe weather for Central Alabama. Following this, a series of cold fronts are expected to bring Arctic air across the nation, causing temperatures to drop significantly with the possibility of sleet, snow, and freezing rain in Central Alabama early next week. Rumors of winter storms next week have some merit, but no significant threat of snow or ice for the Birmingham area has been forecast yet.
