Florida nurse poisoned neighbors cats, pregnant dog for going into her yard: Sheriff

A Florida-based nurse, Tamesha Knighten, has been arrested for allegedly poisoning her neighbors’ two cats and a pregnant Chihuahua, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. Knighten, 51, had previously threatened to poison the animals if they entered her yard. Following the death of the pets on August 16, 2023, authorities found a bowl of food mixed with a substance Knighten referred to as her “special seasoning.” Investigations revealed the pets had been poisoned with a chemical called Phorate. Knighten, a licensed practical nurse with United Health Care at Wellmed in Lakeland, has been charged with three counts of felony animal cruelty.
