Flood advisory issued for Santa Cruz County, Big Sur area

Severe weather is expected along the Central Coast, with threats of power outages, flooding, and high winds. A power outage already affected 1,772 PG&E customers east of Salinas, with the cause believed to be weather-related. Flood advisories have been issued for areas along Highway 101, north-western Monterey County, Santa Cruz County, and areas south of Carmel into Big Sur, with concerns for low-lying and poor drainage areas. The National Weather Service also predicted the San Lorenzo River to reach two feet below minor flooding. High wind warnings and advisories have been issued for the coastline, mountains, and inland areas, with potential power outages anticipated.
