Federal cybersecurity agency launches program to boost support for state, local election offices

The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has launched a program to enhance election security. The initiative will provide support for local offices and aims to reassure voters regarding the safety and accuracy of the upcoming presidential elections. It will address growing security concerns, such as potential cyberattacks from foreign governments, criminal ransomware gangs targeting computer systems, and the spread of election misinformation. The program will comprise 10 new members with extensive election experience who will conduct cyber and physical security reviews for election offices. State election officials have welcomed the additional assistance.
