Federal appeals court orders Texas to remove controversial border buoys from Rio Grande

The 5th US Circuit Court of Appeals has ordered the state of Texas to remove its border buoys from the Rio Grande, marking another victory for the Biden administration in its ongoing conflict with Gov. Greg Abbott over border policy. The court upheld a lower court’s preliminary injunction issued in September, despite Governor Abbott’s claim that Texas has the constitutional authority to install the buoys as part of his border security initiative. Abbott plans to seek an immediate rehearing and is willing to take the matter to the Supreme Court to “protect Texas from Biden’s open borders.” This court decision marks the second legal defeat for Texas in a week regarding border security disputes with the Biden administration.
