Father of slain Palestinian American boy files lawsuit against landlord charged in attack
The father of a 6-year-old Palestinian American boy, who was fatally stabbed in a reported hate crime, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the suburban Chicago landlord charged in the attack. Oday Al-Fayoume’s lawsuit accuses Joseph Czuba, his wife, Mary Czuba, and their property management company, Discerning Property Management, of indifference and failing to prevent harm to their tenants. Authorities allege that Czuba targeted the boy and his mother due to their Muslim faith and in response to the war between Israel and Hamas. The incident, which also left the boy’s mother severely injured, has sparked fears of anti-Islamic discrimination and drawn condemnation from the White House.
