Far-right convoy protesting migrant crisis nears southern border

A convoy led by far-right extremists is headed to the Texas-Mexico border, showing support for the Texas government in its standoff with the federal government over the migrant crisis. The “Take Our Border Back” convoy started in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and had grown to over 200 vehicles by the time it reached Dripping Springs, Texas. Some experts fear potential violence, though convoy organizers have pledged to maintain peace. The group includes Proud Boys members, neo-Nazi groups, and militias, and has held rallies with speakers such as Sarah Palin and Ted Nugent. There is concern that the convoy’s rhetoric may incite violence against migrants, and Border Patrol has moved migrants out of a nearby facility as a precautionary measure.
