Fani Willis’ court filing confirms romantic relationship with lawyer on Trump case but denies any conflict

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and lawyer Nathan Wade, who leads the Georgia prosecution of Donald Trump, have admitted to having a personal relationship in a court filing. The filing rejects allegations of financial conflicts and states that the relationship does not disqualify Willis from the Trump case. The accusations against Willis emerged earlier this month from Trump’s co-defendant Michael Roman, who claimed Willis had an improper relationship with Wade and benefitted financially from it. Willis’s legal team argues that the relationship has no bearing on the case or her ability to prosecute it. Judge Scott McAfee has scheduled an evidentiary hearing for February 15 to consider Roman’s motion.
