Extreme E to stop at end of 2024 amid hydrogen transition to Extreme H

Extreme E, the championship that started in 2021, is set to finish at the end of 2024 in line with the shift to a new hydrogen power source, confirmed utilities manager Andy Welch. Despite previous discussions about running both, Extreme E will not continue alongside Extreme H in 2025. The transition to a Spark Racing Technologies-built hydrogen prototype, which had its first successful test last month, is part of the reason for the shift. Welch added that while they could continue with Extreme E, the commercial impact of running two championships at the same venue would not provide a significant advantage. The hydrogen prototype is expected to appear at an Extreme E event towards the end of 2024.
