Extraordinarily rare white leucistic gator with twinkling blue eyes born in Florida

An extremely rare white leucistic alligator, one of eight known in the world, was born in human care for the first time at Gatorland in Orlando, Florida. The female alligator, which has blue eyes and weighs 96 grams, is the most rare genetic variation of the American alligator. Unlike albino alligators, which have pink eyes and a complete loss of pigment, leucistic alligators are white but often have patches of normal coloration. The white leucistic alligator is sensitive to sunlight and can easily get burnt. Gatorland plans to put the alligator on display early next year and is currently asking the public for name suggestions via its social media pages.
