Ex-gang member charged with stabbing Derek Chauvin on Black Friday

Federal prosecutors have charged John Turscak, 52, a former gang leader and FBI informant, in the assault on Derek Chauvin, an ex-Minneapolis police officer serving a 21-year sentence for the murder of George Floyd. Chauvin was reportedly stabbed by Turscak 22 times in an Arizona prison but survived the attack. According to court documents, Turscak had considered attacking Chauvin for about a month as he was a high-profile inmate. Turscak, who is serving a 30-year sentence for racketeering and conspiracy to commit murder, has been charged with attempted murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, and assault resulting in serious bodily injury.
