Earthquake: Magnitude 4.1 quake felt around Rose Parade

A magnitude 4.1 earthquake occurred off the coast of Los Angeles County, causing weak shaking throughout Southern California, especially in Los Angeles, Orange, and Ventura counties. The epicenter was about 10 miles southwest of San Pedro and 16 miles southwest of downtown Long Beach. It was experienced by many but caused no injuries or damages. The earthquake was not near any known fault and too small to cause any tsunamis. According to recent data, an average of five earthquakes with magnitudes between 4.0 and 5.0 occur per year in the Los Angeles area.
