Driver strikes, injures 8 people on sidewalk blocks from Times Square while trying to escape police
In New York, a driver trying to evade police struck and injured eight people on a Midtown Manhattan sidewalk. The incident, which took place overnight Sunday, involved the driver crashing into multiple cars and people while driving the wrong way on 34th Street. Among the injured were a police officer and a woman who was pinned under a food truck. The driver was arrested and taken to Bellevue Hospital in a critical condition. Charges are pending.
