Donald Trump’s immunity claims in election interference case rejected by judge : NPR

U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan has ruled that former President Donald Trump is not immune from prosecution in his election interference case in Washington. The case accuses Trump of plotting to overturn the 2020 presidential election. Trump’s legal team had argued that he was immune from prosecution due to his presidential duties, but Chutkan said the office of the president “does not confer a lifelong ‘get-out-of-jail-free’ pass.” Trump’s team is expected to quickly appeal this ruling. This is one of four criminal cases Trump is currently facing.
