Donald Trump to attend hearing to fight election interference charges

Former President Donald Trump is set to attend several court proceedings related to charges of election interference and real estate fraud, maintaining that his presidential immunity shields him from such charges. The charges stem from alleged actions taken between the November 2020 election and the Capitol attack on January 6, 2021. Trump argues that his acquittal at an impeachment trial on charges he incited the insurrection also obstructs criminal prosecution. However, U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan rejected this argument, leading to Trump’s appeal to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. He also faces other lawsuits and criminal trials, which he claims are politically motivated.
