Details of Sexual Assault Allegation Against Florida G.O.P. Chair Add to Party Turmoil
The chairman of the Florida Republican Party, Christian Ziegler, is facing a sexual assault allegation which has led to an active investigation by Sarasota Police. The woman who made the accusation has known Ziegler for 20 years and claims he assaulted her in October after she canceled a sexual encounter involving him and his wife. In response, Ziegler says the encounter was consensual and has denied any wrongdoing. The police applied for a warrant to access Ziegler’s Google account, but no charges have been filed yet. Ziegler was elected chairman this year, with the backing of former President Donald Trump’s allies, and his wife is a founder of the right-wing group, Moms for Liberty.
