DeSantis Says He Would Pass a Bill to ‘Supersede’ Obamacare

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis stated he would seek to replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA) with a plan to lower healthcare costs and protect individuals with pre-existing conditions if elected president. DeSantis identified two policies he would focus on: making healthcare costs public for comparison and lowering insurance premiums for individuals who opt for lower-cost providers. He also mentioned the plan would offer more transparency, consumer choice, affordability, and less red tape. However, he was not specific about the plan. DeSantis’ comments mirror those of former President Donald Trump, who recently suggested he was seeking alternatives to the ACA. The ACA has grown in popularity over the years, with a May KFF poll revealing that 59% of Americans support it.
