Derek Chauvin is released from the hospital and is back in prison after being stabbed by inmate

Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer convicted for the murder of George Floyd, was stabbed 22 times in prison by fellow inmate John Turscak, using an “improvised knife”. Chauvin’s attorney, Gregory M. Erickson, revealed that his client’s condition has improved enough to be moved from a Tucson hospital back to prison. There are safety concerns for Chauvin, with his family being unassured about the prison’s capacity to protect him from further harm. Turscak reportedly chose the day after Thanksgiving, known as “Black Friday,” to symbolize the Black Lives Matter movement and the “black hand” symbol of the Mexican mafia. Chauvin is serving a 22½ year sentence for the murder of George Floyd.
