Deputy in Bernalillo County charged with DWI on New Year’s Day

A Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office deputy, Adrienne Seay, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol on New Year’s Day 2024, after refusing to take a breath test at a checkpoint created by New Mexico State Police. Seay had admitted to drinking before driving and did poorly on standardized field sobriety tests. Following the arrest, she still refused to provide breath samples for the investigation. Bernalillo County Sheriff John Allen stated the deputy’s actions were contrary to the office’s high standards and values, and emphasized the importance of law enforcement setting an example. Seay has been put on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
