Defense Secretary hospitalization linked to prostate cancer

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, which was discovered during a regular screening in December. Austin had surgery and was hospitalized due to an ensuing urinary tract infection. His hospitalization, initially kept secret, has raised questions as several top officials including President Joe Biden were not informed for days. In response, the White House has ordered a policy review and demanded immediate notification if Cabinet members are ever unable to perform their duties. The Pentagon has also announced its own internal review to ensure future delegations of authority are promptly communicated to the relevant parties.
