Damaging wind and cold air in place, now lots of snow and freezing rain

The regions of NW Oregon and SW Washington are experiencing a dramatic drop in temperatures, with a snow/ice storm beginning. Predictions suggest 1-6″ of snowfall from Salem through metro area, north to Longview, east through the Gorge, and up to 6″ in the Gorge. The weather will also bring ice pellets, freezing rain, cold wind, and snow, which may induce further power outages. The Willamette Valley, Coast Range, and the northern Oregon coastline are expected to face a destructive ice storm in the next 12 hours. The unsettled weather is set to end this evening, but the cold temperatures will likely persist until Monday.
