Construction companies in fined connection with worker’s death at Lambeau Field

Federal labor inspectors have imposed fines on Mavid Construction and Miron Construction for a worker’s death at Lambeau Field, Green Bay Packers’ home ground. The victim, Joshua Shaw, was a carpenter who died when a dumbwaiter car hit him while he was working inside the stadium’s video scoreboards. The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has issued citations to both companies, calling for fines of over $15,000 against Mavid and nearly $19,000 against Miron, for exposing employees and subcontractors to “pinch-point hazards” associated with the dumbwaiter without ensuring they were qualified to operate the device. The companies can comply, request an informal conference with OSHA, or contest the findings.
