Chris Christie joins GOP presidential primary race in Illinois

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has filed paperwork to join the race for the Republican presidential nomination, along with top contenders Donald Trump, Ron DeSantis, and Nikki Haley. However, Christie struggled to gather a full slate of delegate candidates, unlike other nominees. Among Christie’s delegates is Jennifer Pritzker, a Biden supporter and cousin of Democratic Governor J.B. Pritzker. Meanwhile, objections against Trump’s candidacy have been filed under the “insurrection clause” of the 14th Amendment, although the State Board of Elections is expected to reject these efforts. The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear arguments related to Trump’s disqualification from the ballot in Colorado and Maine on February 8.
