Chicago weather forecast: Winter snow storm moving into Chicago area with foot of snow possible in spots | Radar

A winter storm warning is in effect until noon Saturday for various counties in Illinois due to a storm that could dump up to a foot of snow in some areas. The snow will start lightly and become heavier later in the day, with conditions worsening into the afternoon. Areas away from the lakefront are expected to receive between six to eight inches of snow, with northwestern suburbs predicted to get eight to twelve inches. The storm has already caused hundreds of flight cancellations at Chicago’s airports and created slick conditions on roads. The storm is expected to ease by Saturday morning, although windy conditions could still lead to poor travel conditions.
