Chicago Is Finally Getting Public Restrooms

Chicago is installing four public bathrooms as part of a pilot program announced over two years ago to make bathrooms more accessible. The city partnered with JCDecaux, which has installed fully accessible self-cleaning public toilets worldwide for 40 years. The locations for these bathrooms, set to be in central and highly traveled neighborhood corridors, are being finalized. The city could add more bathrooms depending on the success of the initial four. This program aims to benefit everyone, including transit workers and people experiencing homelessness, and mirrors the steps taken by major European cities and other American cities.
