Chicago developer’s District 1860 project succeeds ratty old Purple Hotel

The former site of the Purple Hotel in Lincolnwood, a suburb of Chicago, is being transformed into a mixed-use development by Tucker Development. Known as District 1860, the development will feature 299 apartments along with retail spaces, which have begun leasing. LensCrafters and Fat Rosie’s taco and tequila bar have already opened, with Fatpour Tap Works and Lee Nails salon expected to follow. Residents will have access to outdoor amenities, including a pool built above a parking deck. The development is expected to include an Amazon Fresh store and another restaurant, Davanti Enoteca, with a hotel planned for 2025.
