Caps, Wizards owner Ted Leonsis talks to News4 about Monumental Move – NBC4 Washington

Ted Leonsis, owner of the Washington Wizards and Capitals, has responded to queries about his plan to relocate the teams from D.C. to Virginia. His vision is to build a “world-class” entertainment district in Alexandria, a proposal announced in December together with Gov. Glenn Youngkin. Leonsis reassured D.C. residents that he’s not abandoning them, claiming the move will benefit fans, players, employees, and union workers significantly. Noting his respect for the legacy of Abe Pollin, who moved the teams into D.C., Leonsis stated that he wants to create the greatest sports community and that his legacy will be shaped by doing what’s right for his fans and teams.
