Capitol Police close investigation into Senate sex tape: “No evidence that a crime was committed”

The U.S. Capitol Police have closed an investigation into a sex tape filmed in a Capitol Hill hearing room, stating there is no evidence a crime was committed. The video, which was released in December, showed two men engaging in sexual activity on the dais of a hearing room in the Hart Senate Office Building. One of the men was identified as a staffer for Sen. Ben Cardin, a Maryland Democrat, who is no longer employed by the U.S. Senate. Despite the incident likely violating congressional policy, federal and local prosecutors, upon review, found no grounds for criminal charges. The former staffer involved refused to participate in the investigation, invoking his Fifth Amendment right.
