Boston Tea Party 250th anniversary: City to re-enact key moment in history

The historic Boston Tea Party is set to be re-enacted for its 250th anniversary. On the night of December 16, 1773, a group of rebellious Americans known as the Sons of Liberty threw 342 chests of Chinese tea into Boston Harbor as a protest against British rule and taxes. This act so impressed future US President John Adams that he marked it as an “epocha in history.” The anniversary event, organized by the December 16th 1773 organization, will feature live historical re-enactments with tickets already sold out, but parts of the reenactment will be live-streamed. The organization reassured that the staged tea dump will be safe for the harbor and marine life, as the tea is biodegradable and all other materials will be retrieved from the water.
