Boise Hangar Collapse Victims Identified by Coroner

  • Three men, identified as Craig Durrant, Mariano Coc Och, and Mario Sontay Tzi, were killed when a privately-owned hangar under construction near the Boise Airport collapsed. They died at the scene from blunt force trauma.
  • Nine other people were injured in the accident, with five of them in critical condition. The contractors working on the building were Big D Builders, who had been operating since 1996, and Inland Crane, who said the hangar collapsed due to an unknown structural failure.
  • The accident site has been cordoned off by police and the cause of the hangar collapse will be investigated by representatives from OSHA. Meanwhile, West Rickenbacker Street remains closed between Wright Street and Orchard Street.


Three Men Killed in Boise Hangar Collapse

Three men tragically lost their lives when a privately-owned hangar under construction collapsed near the Boise Airport. The Ada County Coroner identified the deceased as Craig Durrant, Mariano Coc Och, and Mario Sontay Tzi, all of whom died at the scene from blunt force trauma.

Nine others were injured in the accident, with Boise Fire reporting five in critical condition. Big D Builders, the contractors working on the hangar, have been in business since 1996. The hangar was located at West Rickenbacker Street and Luke Street.

Inland Crane, commissioned to aid in the construction, indicated an unknown structural failure as the cause of the collapse. According to their Vice President, an end truss being positioned by a crane when the hangar collapsed. The crane boom snapped on impact.

The accident scene was cordoned off on Friday morning, and Wright Street remains closed between West Rickenbacker Street and Orchard Street. Representatives from OSHA will provide further updates on the cause and future plans for the site.
