Boeing Max 9 Plane Had Been Barred From Long Flights Over Water

The Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 Max 9 plane that lost a part of its fuselage midair was grounded earlier due to a pressurization warning light issue on three recent flights, according to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). The Friday incident led to the grounding of 171 Boeing 737 Max 9 planes in the US. The NTSB is investigating whether the pressurization warning light issue was linked to the incident. The authorities are focusing their attention on a mid-cabin door plug that was torn from the plane. The incident has renewed attention on the Max aircraft, which was grounded worldwide after two Max 8 jets crashed in 2018 and 2019, killing hundreds.
