Boeing faces new questions about the 737 Max after a plane suffers a gaping hole in its side
Boeing’s best-selling aircraft, the 737 Max 9, faces new safety scrutiny after an Alaska Airlines flight was left with a large hole in its side. This has led to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requiring immediate inspections of Max 9 planes operated by U.S. airlines or flown in the U.S. by foreign carriers, affecting 171 planes worldwide. This comes as another setback for Boeing, whose Max jets have previously been involved in two deadly crashes. Alaska Airlines has grounded its entire fleet of 65 Max 9s for inspections and maintenance, causing significant disruption, while United Airlines has yet to announce plans for its large fleet of 737 Max 9 jets.
