Bipartisan senators introduce ticketing reform legislation
A bipartisan group of US senators introduced the ‘Fans First Act’ to reform event ticketing systems. The legislation, sponsored by Senators including John Cornyn, Amy Klobuchar, and Marsha Blackburn, seeks to improve transparency and consumer protection, and tackle illegal ticket resale practices. Under the proposed law, ticket sellers and resellers would have to disclose total costs, offer a price breakdown, provide proof of purchase within 24 hours, and issue refunds if an event is cancelled or postponed. The bill was introduced following controversies involving Ticketmaster’s ticketing for Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour”. LiveNation, Ticketmaster’s parent company, has voiced support for the legislation.
