Biden to host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at White House Tuesday

President Joe Biden is hosting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky amid stalled negotiations for emergency aid to Ukraine in Congress. This marks Zelensky’s third visit to Washington since the war in Ukraine began. The White House meeting intends to highlight the U.S.’s commitment to supporting Ukraine against Russia’s invasion, discussing Ukraine’s urgent needs, and the importance of the U.S.’s continued support. Zelensky and Biden will also discuss defensive cooperation efforts for the coming year, including joint projects to produce weapons and air defense systems. The deadlock in Congress on the proposed $106 billion aid package, includes around $60 billion in aid towards Ukraine’s defenses against Russia, with the rest going towards Israel’s war with Hamas, security in Taiwan, and funding for operations at the U.S.-Mexico border.
