Biden projected to win South Carolina’s 2024 Democratic primary. Here’s what to know.

President Biden is projected to win South Carolina’s 2024 Democratic primary election against Minnesota Rep. Dean Phillips and self-help author Marianne Williamson, CBS News reports. South Carolina was the first official Democratic nominating contest after the Democratic National Committee (DNC) moved the primary ahead, ignoring New Hampshire law requiring it to hold the first presidential primary. Despite not being on the New Hampshire ballot, Biden won as a write-in candidate, though he will not receive any delegates as the DNC sanctioned New Hampshire for defying its primary calendar. Biden’s South Carolina win is seen as a test of his support among Black voters. The Republican South Carolina primary, where former President Donald Trump will compete against Nikki Haley, is scheduled for February 24.
