Benny’s Blue Lights Broomall: Pennsylvania community lights up to honor 2-year-old after unexpected death from infection
A family in Broomall, Pennsylvania is mourning the sudden death of their two-year-old son, Benny Petransky. The boy passed away unexpectedly in bed with his parents; no previous signs indicated he was anything other than healthy, but an infection was later found in his stomach that had reached his brain. To honor Benny and provide comfort to his parents, the family initiated a community-wide campaign called #BennysBlueLights, encouraging people to display blue lights as a nod to Benny’s blue eyes. Colleagues of Benny’s father also started a meal train and raised over $100,000 for the family. On Friday, Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field is set to light up blue in remembrance of Benny.
