Ayo Edebiri Asks Nikki Haley if Slavery Caused the Civil War
Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley made a surprise appearance on “Saturday Night Live” on February 3, where she interacted with Donald Trump, played by James Austin Johnson, in a town hall sketch. Ayo Edebiri, the host, asked Haley a pointed question about the cause of the Civil War, referring to Haley’s previous misstep at a 2023 town hall where she responded that the war was about how the government was going to run. Earlier in the sketch, Johnson, as Trump, joked about conspiracies, such as Taylor Swift being a government operation. Haley also referenced Trump’s refusal to debate her in the 2024 presidential race.
