Authorities identify Dallas County man found dead inside burning home
Dennis Felt, an 80-year-old resident of rural Dallas Center, Dallas County, was found dead inside his burning home. Crews were dispatched to a fully-engulfed fire at his residence around 9:45 p.m., with a female resident found outside uninjured who believed her husband was still inside. The cause of the fire appears to be accidental. The Iowa Department of Public Safety’s latest data show that 28 people were killed in fires last year, with an average of 39 deaths per year over the last five years. The story is still developing.
