Atlantic City officials talk enforcement efforts amid sharp increase in violent crime – NBC10 Philadelphia

Atlantic City has experienced a surge in violence early in 2024, with four murders already taking place, including the deaths of a 14-year-old child and a 37-year-old man. In response to the rise in violent crimes, Atlantic City Mayor Marty Smalls, Sr., emphasized it is not the time for blame but for action. The city is increasing police presence, enhancing anti-violence outreach and installing advanced camera technology in over 200 locations. Furthermore, a $3.75-million Community Oriented Policing Services hiring grant was recently awarded to Atlantic City, which will facilitate the addition of 30 officers to the police force. A peace walk is also scheduled to foster community unity.
