As Harvard President Faces Pressure to Resign, Some Faculty Show Support

Harvard University President, Claudine Gay, is under pressure to resign over her remarks about antisemitism, with calls for her ouster from alumni, donors, and politicians. However, a faction of faculty members has supported her, with over 500 signing a petition against her removal. The situation arose following Gay’s perceived equivocation in a congressional hearing about whether university policies forbid calls for genocide against Jewish people. The Harvard Corporation, which will decide her fate, is set to meet. Notably, Gay is the first Black woman to serve as Harvard’s president. Her remarks have stirred more reaction among donors and alumni than faculty and students.
