Arctic front will create optimal running weather for Chevron Houston Marathon, officials say – Houston Public Media

The Chevron Houston Marathon is expected to benefit from optimal running weather, thanks to an Arctic front. The marathon typically attracts around 300,000 participants, volunteers, and spectators who appreciate the ideal conditions provided by Houston’s flat, hard terrain and suitable weather. Among the participants is Patrick Tiernan, an experienced marathon runner who has represented Australia in several international competitions. Lars Thestrup, the Marathon’s Medical Director, anticipates temperatures to reach the mid-40s throughout the race, which falls within the optimal range of 40 to 65 degrees for marathons. Houston Fire Department Chief Samuel Peña advises both runners and spectators to properly hydrate and dress warmly.
