Appeals court says Trump isn’t immune from Jan. 6 riot lawsuits : NPR

A US federal appeals court has ruled that former President Donald Trump is not immune from being sued over the January 6 attack on the US Capitol. This allows for lawsuits against Trump connected to the riot to proceed. Trump had tried to have the cases dismissed, claiming that as president he was immune from civil lawsuits. However, the court rejected the argument, stating that the president’s actions related to his re-election campaign were not official presidential acts, thus not providing immunity. The ruling is not final, and Trump could appeal or raise similar challenges in district court.
