AP VoteCast: Who voted (and how) in Iowa caucuses

In the Iowa Republican caucuses, Donald Trump came out on top with support from about 70% of caucus participants. Mainly backed by people from small towns and rural communities, white evangelical Christians, and those without a college degree, Trump’s victory indicates his growing influence in the state. His main opponents, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, and biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, were unable to match Trump’s demographic support. Most Trump supporters agreed with his hardline stance on immigration and economy. Challenges for Trump include less support from suburbs and college graduates and his legal troubles.
