Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill Gets a Broadway Show in Dallas
The pop-rock musical “Jagged Little Pill,” based on Alanis Morissette’s 1996 studio album of the same name, is currently being staged at the Winspear Opera House in Dallas. Written by “Juno” screenwriter Diablo Cody, the musical tells the story of the Healy family, each member dealing with various struggles. The musical faces the typical challenges of jukebox musicals, namely whether the original album enhances the story or constrains it. Despite some shortcomings, the musical’s unapologetic, spirited delivery and a strong cast breathe new life into the beloved Morissette soundtrack. The show runs from January 12-14 at the Winspear Opera House.
