Democratic Representative Al Green from Texas left his hospital bed briefly to cast a decisive vote against the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. Green’s vote helped prevent the impeachment, with the final tally standing at 216-214. Green, who was receiving abdominal surgery at the time, had his transportation arranged by Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. The impeachment proceedings were initiated by Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene, who blamed Mayorkas for a surge in illegal immigration at the US border.
