Action 13: SW Houston property debris on W. Bellfort Avenue set to be cleared out months after illegal demolition

The Houston Department of Neighborhoods is working to clear hazardous debris from an illegally demolished building in the city. The property owners have been deemed responsible for the clean-up, however they have been difficult to locate. After finally tracking down the owners, they claimed they were going to remove the debris themselves, but work had to stop because they did not have the necessary city permits. Now, the city is cleaning up the site and placing a lien on the property for the cost of the abatement. While the Department of Neighborhoods initially said the debris should be cleared within a week, it is now awaiting the property owners to take action and acquire permits, leaving the timeline uncertain.
