A stolen digital memory card with gruesome recordings leads to a double murder trial in Alaska

A woman stole a digital memory card from a truck in Anchorage, Alaska which contained evidence leading to a double murder trial. The card contained photos and videos of a woman being murdered at a Marriott hotel. The voice on the recordings was identified by police as Brian Steven Smith. Smith, a South African native, has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges including first- and second-degree murder, sexual assault, and tampering with evidence. He is accused of murdering Kathleen Henry and Veronica Abouchuk, both Alaska Native women who had experienced homelessness.
