A home near Washington, DC, exploded as police responded to reports of more than 30 flare-gun shots fired

A home in Arlington, Virginia exploded as police attempted to execute a search warrant. The suspect, who was inside the home during the explosion, had been firing a flare gun from his home earlier in the day. The explosion occurred after the suspect fired several rounds from what is believed to have been a firearm. The incident led to the evacuation of several nearby homes. The FBI’s Washington, DC field office is assisting local police in responding to the explosion.
